NORFOLK, Va. (Feb. 27, 2024) – Tidewater Tech is pleased to announce four of its students have been awarded $2,500 scholarships from BAE Systems. Sheridan Silvestri, Mark Silvestri, Desean Kieschnick, and Kevin Scott were honored at a special award ceremony this week, attended by Mr. Michael Villanueva, Talent Outreach Manager, at BAE Systems, Dr. Joel English, President of Tidewater Tech and its family of schools, Dr. Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Mayor of Norfolk, and Chancellor of Tidewater Tech, as well as campus leadership.
BAE Systems, Inc., a global leader in defense, security, and aerospace, is committed to investing in the next generation of skilled trade professionals. The scholarships were awarded to full-time students who demonstrate exceptional dedication and academic achievement in pursuit of a certification in Combination Welding or Combination Maritime Welding. Applicants were chosen based on their academic standing, attendance and safety records, faculty recommendations, and an essay demonstrating their pursuit of a career in skilled trades.
